Who is TSAC?
Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC) is the guarantor in Tennessee for the federally guaranteed student loan (Title IV) programs. This program is known as the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FFELP). Under this program post secondary education loans are offered at low interest rates and subsidized by the federal government. SunTrust Bank works in concert with TSAC to offer these loans to Tennessee students and parents, or parents and student attending a Tennessee institution of post secondary higher education.

What is eSigning?
The term "eSigning" (also referred to as eSign and eSignature) describes the online ability to electronically "sign" legal papers in lieu of a traditional "wet" or ink signature on physical documents. At TSAC, you will have the option to electronically sign your Federal Stafford Master Promissory Note (MPN).

By signing electronically, you will be certifying that your have read, understand and agree to the terms and condition of the Federal Stafford Master Promissory Note, Borrower Certification and Authorizations, Borrower Rights and Responsibilities, and Notice Applicable to Subsequent Loans Made Under this Note.

Before you electronically sign your Stafford MPN, you must consent (agree) to conduct this transaction electronically. When you provide your consent to conduct this transaction electronically, your consent will be for the sole and limited purpose of completing this transaction. The consent will not cover any future transactions that you may wish to conduct electronically. You will be required to provide a new consent to any future transactions you wish to conduct with us.

What do I need to get started?
To conduct transactions electronically at TSAC, you will need the following:

1. Access to a computer.
2. Access to the Internet.
3. A web browser (Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or Netscape Navigator 4.7 or higher is recommended).
4. In order to review your MPN, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4.0 or higher installed on your computer. You can download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.
5. Access to a laser or ink-jet printer.

You will be asked to create a user id and password and to log in with that information. To expedite the application process, please have the following information ready:

• Driver's License
• Lender Information (SunTrust Bank, Nashville)
• Two personal references (one should be a parent or legal guardian). Please have their name, address, telephone number and email address ready.

How do I electronically sign?
To sign electronically, you will be prompted to enter your name and the date you signed the MPN. This information will appear on the electronic document along with the words "Electronically Signed" as your electronic signature. After signing the document you should print a copy for your records.

What if I don't want to electronically sign my MPN at TSAC?
At any time prior to submitting your electronic signature, you may opt out of the electronic signature process by selecting the "Opt Out" button. This will enable you to print a copy of the MPN on your local printer. In order to print, you must have a laser or ink-jet printer and Adobe Acrobat Reader or higher installed. You can download a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Do I always have a choice?
Yes, just because you sign one MPN electronically, it does not force you to sign all MPNs electronically. In fact, if you have signed your MPN electronically, you may at any time withdraw your consent and instruct GuaranTec Loan Service that your electronically signed MPN is no longer to be used as the basis for new and additional loans.
